Privacy policy

The short version
Squirrel keeps your data on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. We do not track you, and we do not sell, rent, or share your information. The only time Squirrel talks to the internet is to look up stock prices and company names, described below.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. Squirrel has no user accounts and no login. Everything you enter, including the apps you block, your unlock history, your session prices, and your personal savings ledger, is stored only on your device. We never receive it, because we have no server to receive it.
The one network request we make
To show current stock prices and company names, Squirrel sends the ticker symbol you look up (for example, "VOO") to a small relay we operate on Cloudflare, which forwards it to Finnhub (finnhub.io), our market-data provider. Like any internet request, the one your phone makes carries your device's IP address, which reaches Cloudflare; Finnhub sees the relay's requests rather than your phone's. The relay holds our API key, keeps no logs of user data, and stores nothing about anyone. The request does not include your name, an account identifier, your holdings, your savings balance, your unlock history, or any other personal data. We do not have accounts, so there is nothing to attach. Finnhub returns a delayed price and, when available, the company name, under its own privacy policy at finnhub.io/privacy. Prices in Squirrel are delayed and provided for information only; Squirrel does not execute trades or move money.
What we do not do
We do not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not use advertising or any third-party tracking. We do not use App Tracking Transparency because we do not track you across apps or websites. We do not connect to any bank or brokerage, we never see your financial accounts, and no real money moves through Squirrel. The "invest" feature records amounts you choose to set aside and, if you ask, hands you off to your own brokerage's app or website. The actual investing happens there, outside Squirrel.
Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives only on your device, you control it. Deleting the app removes all of it. Inside the app, "Reset all data" erases your ledger, history, and settings. There is no copy anywhere else for us to delete, because we never had one.
Notifications
Squirrel can send a local weekly reminder, scheduled on your device by iOS; no notification content is sent to or through any server of ours.
Children
Squirrel is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
